CSAA Executive - Structure

Office bearers

Four office bearers are elected at CSAA AGMs, which are held at CSAA conferences: the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Office bearers are appointed for three years each, in order to provide stability to the Association.

President

The holder of the presidential office is appointed for a period of up to three years.

The duties of the president are:

  • To represent the CSAA publicly
  • To oversee, and offer support to, the work of other office bearers
  • To attend the CSAA conference each year and give the 'President's address'
  • To chair the AGM
  • To work with the conference organiser in order to ensure that CSAA administrative concerns are addressed in relation to the conference. These are:
  1. The conference costs must include CSAA membership from each participant. In 2007 the rate is $80 full and $54 concession.
  2. Liability for any loss made by the conference must be negotiated on a year by year basis. The CSAA does not normally bear liability for any losses: organisers usually ensure that their host institutions bear accountability for losses. It should be stressed that no CSAA conference has ever made a loss.
  3. A 15 minute slot to be made available at the conference opening for the CSAA president's address
  4. The CSAA AGM to be timetabled at the conference
  5. $2000 seed funding to be available to conference organisers from the CSAA
  • To oversee the administration of the CSAA small grants scheme
  • To oversee the administration of the CSAA book awards
  • To generate ideas for the work of the CSAA
  • To ensure all Executive posts are filled
  • To liase with the publishers of the CSAA affiliated journal (currently Continuum)
